Miss Green's Garden Party at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week 2009!

Dust off your prettiest frock and shine your favourite shoes as Miss Green invites Melbourne to her inaugural Garden Party!

Miss Green’s Garden Party is an eco-minded fashion event that will be held in the lush surrounds of The Willows and is part of the official schedule for Melbourne Spring Fashion Week 2009. Local established and emerging designers have been invited to take part in a fashion show and design an outfit worthy of the Spring Racing Carnival exclusively for the event. The difference is they must be created using only eco-friendly materials.

Many of the pieces will be auctioned off at the Garden Party with 50% of the purchase price being donated to the designer’s favourite charity. Where else can you buy a one-off designer outfit fit for ‘Fashions on the Field’ completely guilt free?

Miss Green has partnered with OPI to give away a $500 “Pamper Hamper” at the Garden Party. The prize includes the latest nail polish shades, hand, nail and foot treatments and a deluxe OPI pedicure and manicure. Messina Designs

Designer Cara Messina saw an opportunity to do something that she loved and share this passion with everyone. Established in 2009, Messina Designs is a label that prides itself on sophistication, current fashion trends, and immaculate styling.

Historic and era inspired designs with a modern color palette and fabric selection. Designer Cara Messina’s signature feminine details- with a modern edge- showcases a new range of garments including ready to wear, cocktail and unique hand crafted millinery and hair pieces. Her designs are all made in Melbourne, Australia and all fabrics are sourced from vintage and commercial fabric shops in Australia. “As a designer I am always experimenting with new and different tailoring and draping techniques” Messina also enjoys working with a range of different untraditional materials such as couture hand sewn fabrics, as well as more conventional variety.

Why did you choose this charity/what does it mean to you?
I choose Kidney Health Australia because it is a charity very close to my heart. I lost one of my kidneys at the age of seven, due to Kidney disease. In Australia, one in three adults is at an increased risk of developing chronic kidney disease.

We recently found a dog that had been abandoned and had to give him to the lost dogs home. They found her owners but they wanted to put her down because she had some medical problems. The lost dogs home was able to give her the proper medication and dental work she needed so that we could adopt her..... So we chose this charity for little dog Louisiana Rose (shorty).
